1999 V70 AWD Turbo Check Engine Light goes on in wet weather

1999 V70 AWD Turbo Check Engine Light goes on in wet weather
We have a 1999 V70 AWD Turbo and if there is wet weather the check engine light goes on for a couple days, less if we drive it more often. New to the board. Any thoughts? I appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Also, we received this car as a hand me down from my parents who bought it used. It has automatic transmission. Should there be a light to light up the gear selector by the gear shift? At night it is hard to know exactly what gear we have shifted to. Thanks.
