Engine oil problem in v70
My volvo V70 is 11 years old, when I bought it 3 years ago I was getting around 380 miles per tank of gas in the city and around 420 Highway, now I get only around 300 miles/tank (or about 17 gallon of gas.)
I recently noticed my engine oil is less than what they fill, dipstick comes out clean but when you unplug the oil change plug, the whole amount of oil at oil change comes out. where does go my oil to keep the dipstick clean? I olso noticed that car somke a litle bit.
Now if I have to change engine wich is non turbo engine, is it possible to interchange it with a turbo engine? I want this because I want to give it more power.
what else should I be looking to buy beside a turbo engine if I want to go Turbo?
thanks.
Ray.

Try to figure out why you can't drive as far per tank as before. It may not be related to the oil issue.
When was the last time the plugs, wires, rotor, air filter, etc (routine maintenance) done?
Watch the oil level on the next change. Check it when newly changed, then daily to monitor the change.
As for replacing with a turbo engine, it's not worth it. If you have to have a turbo-Volvo, sell what you've got and buy one with a turbo engine.

Most gasolines have ethanol added now. It wasn't as common 3 years ago. Ethanol has less heat value than gasoline, so your fuel economy will take a hit. Also, if the octane rating has dropped, the computer will adjust for it, but you may take a performance (power and fuel economy) hit. In some areas of the US, "regular" is now 85 octane.
However, the "somke a litle bit" is probably your real issue. If you see blue somke, that's where your oil and fuel economy are going. You've got a worn out engine. If you see black somke, your engine is running too rich. Either way, get a basic engine check to see if your car is worth keeping.
