1999 V70 non-turbo 2WD

I have a leak at the passenger side where the axle enters the differential/transmission.

Question 1.
Is the differential and transmission one reservoir using ATF fluid? The leak felt like gear lube, but the ATF level was a little low. Could not find a level check bolt if it is seperate.

Question 2.
How do you remove the shaft to replace the seal? Do you take off the lower ball joint and the mid axle bearing assembly, and slide the whole thing out? The mid axle bearing seems a bit loose, thinking this might be the cause of the seal leaking?
