1999 V70 xc
I am new to the forum, but have had volvos in the family for a long time. My mom has a 1990 740 with 280,600 miles and thinks its time for something new. She was looking at a 1999 V70 xc but was unsure of the AWD system. Are there any known problems that she may come across? Let me know the pros and cons, I don't want her in something that will cost more than its worth.

RE: 1999 V70 xc
Dear Bmckee7,
Everything I know about Volvo's AWD system is proven. I think that the system works great and really makes the car handle awesome. I am not aware of any major problems with the AWD but I know that the trans in most any Volvo can be the weak link in the system. A pro to the system is the winter mode with the awd it works really well in limiting your wheel spin on snowy and slick conditions. The only Cons to the Awd system are a slight mileage difference and the fact that you will wear out your tires faster than a normal FWD. Also tire rotation is very important on an AWD car. I think your mom will love the XC if she drives in uncertain weather conditions.... ( ie: Snow, Ice) I just recently, today matter of fact bought a set of 4 Yokahama Avid M&S tires for $ 332.00. Hope this feedback is helpful... Take care .. Todd
