Just purchased 1999 v70 need some fixes please
I just purchased a 1999 v70 with 94K and of course it has some issues. The primary problems that I have found are that the door locks in the front do not operate properly. The driver side door unlocks with key and with switch on inside but the indicator (door lock button that pops up and down) does not move. The passenger side does not lock or unlock from the switch on the drivers door nor does it unlock using the key in driver door i.e. turn twice to open all doors does not unlock it but the indicator does go up and down, there is some noise inside the door that sounds like it trying to function but cant. The 3rd row seat does not lock into place, it looks like there is some type of catch/latch missing where the ****** swing arm goes into the back of the second row seat. The rear passenger taillight is cracked. The rear passenger mud flap is missing. I plan on doing all the work myself so I would like to get some info on what parts it may be (door locks), a good do-it-yourself manual, and best online site to get inexpensive parts. I have a very good background in automotive maintenance and have done an engine swap so this type of stuff is not new however the last car was a 1980 Merc 300D and the technology has charged just a little in the last 20 years. ; ) Any and all help will be greatly appreciated and when I start doing the fixes I will take some pics and post so all may see the progress and outcome. Cheers Will K[:-]

RE: Just purchased 1999 v70 need some fixes please
Well I am going to embark on some repairs/maintenance, first I need to do a tune up and then the timing belt and water pump. Are there any walkthroughs online for hints besides the Haynes manual? I fixed the 3rd row seat problem when I found the grommet that I needed between the seats, I cant imagine how it fell out and then ended up there. Also It says that my car has a 2/4 liter engine on the original sticker that was placed on it at the dealership but I am being told bye a mechanic that it has to be a 2.3 or 2.5 what’s the deal. It’s a 1999 v70 non-turbo. Any specialty tools that I am going to need for this project? All help greatly appreciated thanks. Will K

Post the engine code and we can tell you what you have. I think it is 4 digits. I would think you have the 2.4, but all the books say you have the 2.3. You will find the books for oil filters will also steer you in the wrong direction. You need a paper filter and a special wrench. This is the best price I have ever seen for this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=228013

RE: Just purchased 1999 v70 need some fixes please
I will pull the engine codes when I get a chance. I talked to a local dealer about them doing my timing belt they want $400 and said that the water pump does not need to be replaced. I am going to do all of the tune up stuff myself so that should save me $600 which is what they wanted for a full tune up, filters, etc etc. Any idea if these prices are nominal. Need to purchase a haynes, are they any good I have had one for all the vehicles ive worked on and they are generally close to correct. Also do parts for a s70 and v70 swap? and do they charge less for s70 parts? Thanks for all the help so far. PS I dream about the pic below.

The only difference between the S and V70 are one is a sedan and one is a wagon. Up till 2000.
I know we used to charge almost $400.00 for a major service.
If you know some stuff you might be able to do the belt yourself as well.
P.S. I have seen the 850 before as well. FUNKY

RE: Just purchased 1999 v70 need some fixes please
To be honest I just make it look good and trying to make it run good for my wife and 2-year-old son; they also make it look much better than I when they drive it. It still drives great and may get one for myself. I was wondering what the Haynes manual means when it says registered for P-V (see image) I want to get this manual but want to make sure I can use it for this vehicle. The vehicle was built in 11-98 so considered a 99 correct? I drove it today it is making a weird sound from the front passenger side kind of sounds like a dull grinding, brakes or wheel bearings? It goes away at speed but until then it’s a bit annoying. Cheers

Not sure if it will work on your car or not. Not sure if it covers the electronic throttle body cars. 1999 cars have electronic throttle bodys. Alot of the stuff is similiar and some is different.
Not sure about the other codes you aksed about. SORRY.
