Question 2001 V70 AC Issue with Dual Zone

I have a 2001 V70. The AC works very well, except that when it seems very hot outside the passenger side vents blow hot air. The driver's side vents blow cold air. I cannot seem to correlate it to using outside air vs. recalculating the cabin air. To me it seems some valve or duct inside the dash is getting stuck or something to that effect.

Has any one experienced this? Any ideas on repairs?

Have you tried turning the passenger temp **** to hot then cold?
If not try that. If that does not work it might be low on freon.

I have seen this many times.
