Auto Zone, The Check Engine Light, and OBD II
So, yesterday when I started my car up the Check Engine light came on... Ok, whatever. So today I call a shop that came recommended to me by my friend the Audi ****. They wanted $65 to scan my car , yes for the price of the damned scanner they will check my car out. Well screw that, so I went to auto zone where they scanned it for free, but they didn't give me a number or anything just a print out of what it means on a whole list of cars, none of them Volvo's..... At the top of the list is Volkswagen, because the guy thought they are similar ("The Germans make Volvo, right?" "No, actually its Sweden..." "meh, same difference") the trouble shooting list for the VW is as follows: Evap large system leak, defective or missing fuel cap, faulty vent solenoid, faulty purge control solenoid, faulty fuel tank pressure sensor. So translate from VW to Volvo to English for me and tell me what to do.

Check this link out http://www.obd-codes.com/p0455 .I belive it is your code. Go back to Autozone and ask them for code No. to make sure.
I paid my scanner $39.

P0455 is the code that came up... I went back after work last night lol. Also I'm going to be buying one of those scanners, I have a feeling that it's going to be useful. I'm praying that its the gas cap... I know the one on there is not the original. I'll have to go through the Haynes manual and check out the Evap system and where weak points could be there ... anyone have experience with that?

Buy a Scanner. You can easily get it paid for by charging your friends to scan their car for $5 or whatever. In time, pays for itself. Good for you and people who know you have it. I already have mine paid for and I spent a whole lot more and got a really good one. Make the experience good for them, scan the car then take the code to the internet and find solutions. Reset it for them, they love it. They feel great and you get your scanner paid for.
