Default 2001 volvo v70 air conditioning problem

Hello everybody, new at the forum.

I just got my wife a 2001 volvo V70 Cross, it only has one problem the AC does not work, it kicks in for 5 sec and then only hot air, I took it to the mechanic and he did check the the freon level and it was still full. Now he was checking the compressor and that to is still good, I notice something, when he uses the electrical tester in the relay box the AC kicks on, then it shuts off.
I read a lot of post saying about the High Pressure swich, Can this be the problem?
Does anybody have more or less an idea of the problem?

Thank you in advance.

I took it to the dealer to see if i can get some codes, this is what they gave me:

CEM-1A55 Communication with CCM control Module Signal missing
CEM-1A5b Communication with SWM controlo module signal missing
CEM-1A5c Communication with UEM control module signal missing

This are the most important one.

Tech,

Where is the evap temp sensor? The dude at the dealer said that it might be the climate control panel.

Tech, you are the man, i was reading all you post and it seems you know what you are talking about.

If you remove the drivers side lower dash panel 2 t-25 screws then look like behind the radio under the dash you will see metal pipes going into the climate box(Heater core)

Like towards the front of the car a hair from the pipes is a sensor with a green plug(White sensor) That is the evap temp sensor unplug it and it just pulls out.

It will be long and have a probe in the middle with the end dot being colored.

The sensors are usually white unless they updated with a different color one.

It could be the sensor the only way I know if to test it is to have the proper equipment to read the climate module and sensor.

The job of the sensor is to keep the A/C system from freezing up. It acts kind of like a low pressure switch in the A/C system.

According to the codes given, looks like you may have a bad module. Probably the climate control module (ccm), that would be my quick guess. What did the dealer recomend?

Update:

I took my car to my buddy's House, And exchange his CCM with mine on his car first and the system did not work, then i took his working one and plug it in on my car and it did not work to.

I called the dealer and the service dude told me that i needed a softwear to be able to have the CCM working on my car.

Is this true? i know i do have a bad CCM, so i know i have to get one, but will this fix my AC problem?

Volvo computers are named HAL, especially in 2001 models! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist).

True you cannot install a used unit. It needs to be a new one and the Dealer has to program it with software.

Default Air Conditioning V70xc 2001 add refrigerant

My A/C works; it just isn't super cold. Went to auto parts store and bought a can of R 134 with gauge to add. Then surprise, the Volvo VADIS says to add to High Side! All my A/C experience, as well as the can instructions, say add to low side. After searching the VADIS extensively, I located the low side "port" where I can add refrigerant. Anyone have any problems doing it this way? Thought that I would ask before adding. No error messages in scan. Thanks

Hello My 2001 v70 does almost exactly the same thing, but there is no power at all to the climate cotrol panel in the car, internal cabin fanetc. Also no lights on the auto gear shift indicators, and no power to the radiator fan. This all occured when the battery was removed for charging, then reconnected. I also have error code CEM 1A55 , I am desperate, have had EVERY fuse I can find out and cheked it - all OK. Any suggestions anybody, thanks Alan.

I have a 2001 V70 that had a totally dead automatic air control panel which I replace with one from Ebay for £40, I just plugged it in, reconeccted the battery and it worked imediatly. It had EXACTLY the same part number as the U/S one. I had tried one with a different number but that would not work.
