Hello All, Brand new member with my first post so please be gentle. My wife and I have found a 2004 V70 2.4 with 53,000 mi and full service records. Regularly maintained lease vehicle with clean Carfax. Asking price is about $13,000. I feel like this is a pretty good price, but that is not really my concern. Our primary concern is reliability. We are tired of having to have some kind of maintenance (other than routine) done every time we turn around. What is the consensus of reliability on this model. There seems to be a "love it or hate it" opinion from what I can gather. Of course I also realize that complaints get louder voices than praises. Just wondering what I should be aware of if anything.

 

Hi, Most of the issues were ironed out by the time the 04 v70 was released,
earlier problems that plagued the 01-03 v70 range are well documented right through out
this site, throttle body, transmission, brake boosters & electrical problems were a problem.
As long as the service history is sound, you should be fine, It might pay to get the Volvo checked by an indy volvo specialist.. $200 spent now is well worth it...in my opinion.
The 04 v70 is probably the best release in my opinion..

This is pretty much what I own...with pretty much the same mileage...I am very happy with the car, no major repairs to report, just my regular maintenance...oil change kinda thing...big tune up coming up at 60k...transmission oil change and timing belt...I had an inspection done to make sure everything is ok..I recommend you do the same...love the car.
