I'm in the same position with the same "ride". Except it has 17" wheels which
look like they're going to be pothole attractors on our poorly maintained winter roads. So I'm deciding whether to guy a set of 16" wheels, too, which will make changeover easier. Higher profile sidewalls = less chance of pothole damage, too.
Discount Tire and Tire Rack have some rather well-developed tire test/comment sites on their websites where you can spend much time but gain much information. Just remember to look for similar geography (snow, ice, hills) to get a valid comparison with where you live.
Plan B is to go with some good all season tires (Pirellis aren't going to make it through snow, expecially with nearly 30K on them. I guess its going to depend on $$$$ for wheels/tire combo versus 4 new tires. Problem is, of course, its my wife's car and she's coming off a Honda Pilot AWD which never had a snow problem.
