Default Is the 2008 Volvo V70 a reliable car?

I'm retiring my beloved 96 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon and am looking to put the cash right into another Volvo wagon. I have been steered away from the problematic XC90s and am now leaning towards either a 2006 XC70 or a 2008 V70. Both are dealer sales, surprisingly the XC70 is priced higher, they're asking 7000 for it and the other dealer wants 6000 for the V70. They both look great, the XC70 has 143k miles on it, not sure what the 2008 V70 has on it. Wondering what your choice would be having it to make over again, would you stick with your V70 or try the XC70? Doing everything I can to find recalls, known problems, etc. The 2008 V70 is FWD and the 2006 XC70 is 4WD. All input is appreciated, will be making a move this week. Thanks!

Every car has issues. Recalls are not relevant. If the recall has been completed, there are no further issues. If it has not been completed, it is free at any dealer. Reliability is also directly related to proper upkeep. You don't know how the previous owners of those cars treated them. Did they change the oil on time? Early? 5000 miles late? Either of those cars could be good. They could also be neglected pieces of junk.

Of course I'm not relying on this info alone, I'm looking for a reputable dealer that has looked the car over for things I can't see... I don't trust myself enough to buy off of a private owner unless I know them AND they know cars OR I trust them and they have service documents. I bought my 96 off the first owner and she was a mother and took it to the dealer to be serviced regularly, had the paperwork to prove it too. What I want to know is, as a V70 owner, everything else being equal, do you like your car? Do you like it better than other Volvos you've owned? If you had it to do over would you choose a V70 over say and XC70? And are there any known problems with certain years/builds that you can steer me away from. Thanks!
