'98 V70R Wheel/Tire quesiton...
I finally had to register. I've been following this board for about a year now and it has been a life saver to say the least. My question is, I have a '98 V70R with the stock 16" wheels. I really want to try a set of the Michelin Pilot PS2's but it looks like they start with a 17" wheel. Will the newer ('99 up) V70R wheel fit my '98 and is this a good tire combo?
Thanks........Crab

Any of the 17" wheels available for an 850 or V70/S70 should fit your car fine. The 16" wheels that came on your car are 'Meteors'. The 17" version of these wheels are called 'Comets' (my favorite Volvo wheels). Here's a 17" wheel thread from Swedespeed.

an alternate summer option I would suggest is an Exalto PE2 in a P225/50/ZR16 92W, it's the same rolling dia. (835 rev per mile) and your section width increases from 8.4" to 9.2"
just my 02p

I cannot comment on the wheels; I have original; Volvo 17" alloys... But I just got myself Michelin Pilot PS2 tires 2 weeks ago. I paid some heafty money for them; but they are worth every cent. The grip is excellent;low noiseand comfortable. I had earlier Pirelli's, PZerro Rosso's that where very good, little less grip, but more quite; but I feel the Michelin's are overal a better choice... Since I live in a dry and hot climate, I have only an opinion on dry grip. Best of luck with the wheels....
