Default alternator problem 01v70t5

okay, so here is the problem, my alternator is out, already did all the voltage checks, I've narrowed it down to the alt.

The car is an 01 v70t5 with 205k on the clock, and my wife was planning on driving the car out of town on thursday.

None of the local parts suppliers stock the voltage reg, and honestly the shaft that the brushes ride on is grooved pretty deeply and has 200k on the bearings anyway. The only supplier that does carry an alt has one with a fixed pulley, and I don't have the !@#$%& volvo special tool to remove the old free wheeling pulley to put on the new alt.

Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the pulley off, or am I alright just using the fixed pulley? The only thing I have been able to find is that the free wheeling pulley has been reported to fail occasionally, and that they are hard to find separate, but nothing about compatibility.

Thanks for any advice
