Greetings,

I feel your pain, I had a head gasket replaced on a '98 S70 T5 in January. My cost was $1600.00 including a valve job. My trusted mechanic advised that if there were on other problems with the car, there was no reason to get rid of it. I have had zero problems with the engine since then.

I don't know how many miles you have on it, but I have a 98 V70 T5, that at 111,000 I lost a timing belt because I didn't replace the idler that exploded. Bottom line and $3000 later I was back on the road. I now have 278,000 miles on the same motor. To me, this was a good $3000 investment. I also happen to love this car too much to part with it. I just built a second motor which I'm swapping out, nothing lasts forever! Hope this helps you with your decision.
Regards,
