Default Brake, ABS, and STC Warning Lights on 2001 T5

hello everyone. just bought a black 01 T5 with about 109k on it a couple of weeks ago. has a couple of issues that need to be taken care of (tires, control arm bushings), but it in great shape otherwise. The only weird problem i'm having is with warning lights on the dash that go on and off seemingly at random. As I drive down the road, the brake and stc lights will randomly come on, as well as a message telling me that there is a brake failure and that i need to safely stop ASAP. after a random amount of time (sometimes 5 sec, sometimes 15 min) the brake warning goes away, but the stc light stays on. then the stc light will randomly go off as well. as all this is going on, the cruise control won't work. only when all of the lights go off will it work. also, the odometer doesn't count any miles as long as the brake failure light is on.

is this a voltage issue? a bad connection somewhere? has anyone else had this sort of problem?

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

ABS module has gone bad. If you are handy you can repair the module yourself.

I used Vic Rocha a few years back, and he did an excellent quick job at a very reasonable price. You'll need to purchase a very small torx driver (are sometimes hard to find). Vic will sell you one for around $5. His web sight has some great info on the removal and replacement. Check it out. What ever you do DON'T go to the dealer. A HUGH rip-off. If you read up and feel this might be a challange, then see if you can get an indy to do this.
