Default buying a 2000 V70 need encouragement

Hello,
I'm looking at buying a 2000 V70 XC with 160k miles. Is this a mistake?

Mainly I need help identifying what kind of engine it has. The owner/dealer doesn't know anything. Wikipedia list several engines how do I figure out which one it has? Does it have a turbo?

What are known problems for this year? What is the second thing I should do right after changing the timing belt?

Are there regular maintenance items specifically for the AWD system?

Does the V70 have a towing capacity? I have a small boat not more than 500lb. Anybody use V70 for towing?

Would you recommend a good Volvo mechanic in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA?

Thanks

get the VIN # and email it to Volvo and they can tell you everything about it.

I have a 2000 V70 and the transmission failed at 61K. Very expensive.

I'd be leery purchasing a car from someone who claimed ignorance.

Default bought it

Thanks for the reply
actually i didn't buy that one but i did buy a different v70 xc.
It's owned by a volvo master mechanic.
This one has 102k miles on it, a new transmission and the owner will do timing belt change before giving it to me.

can't wait to get it tomorrow.

Default Etm

Good luck with it!

btw, what exactly is the ETM and how do I know if I need a new one or if it was changed prior to my purchase (other than bothering the person I bought it from)?

I had my tranny fixed by an independant mechanic (who probably has bootleg update software) 17 K ago. The tranny shifts not smoothly around town most of the time (it jerks a little)... does the ETM have anything to do with this?
