Need tips on buying a 98'-00' V70
Hello,
I am thinking seriously of buying a 98'-00' V70. I essentially just want a loaded out FWD Turbo V70. I'm very confused on the different FWD models made with a turbo however?? GL, GLT, Turbo??
Also, can you please tell me what to look for when inspecting one of these vehicles? What questions need to be asked? What are some common trouble spots?
Thanks,
Zack

If you want Fully Loaded then get a turbomodel. They usually have more goodies from factory, and the people who get them new load them up, from what I've seen. They have More power too

My input - '99 is the year to have, last pre-Ford year and most resolved IMO. If you can find one, the manual transmission is very nice. Can you tell I LOVE my manual '99?

The 98 was the last year before Ford and the best.
The 99 has the electronic throttle system which almost always has problems. Volvo came out with the recall but once you hit 10 years or 200,000 miles then you will fit the bill when problems happen with it for over 1K.
IMO I would try to find and stick with a 1998.

I have to disagree a little with that.

The 99 model year was the launch of the Ford involved cars. The 99 S80 has ford written all over it(Not in actual writing).
But they started messing with the 99 year cars.
Ever since Volvo went to the "Fly By Wire" system in 99 there was alot of peoblems.
In I think it was 2003 they designed a different throttle body which is a ton better than the older ones.

Aw man... bummer. I haven't had any problems yet but I guess I should hold off on that bodywork and save those pennies.
To the original poster, check out the wikipedia post on the V70's. It breaks down the various models and trim packages fairly well.
