Default Door lock question

Hello all and thank you for having me. I am a first time Volvo buyer after finding one with 104,000 miles for what appeared to be a steal. I have replaced the ABS computer using ModuleMaster ($140) and had the driver's door pop repaired ($175) , both I understand are the norm for my model.

The front passenger door lock actuates and the button goes up and down, but the door will not lock. Before I remove the door panel and look at the lock I would like to know if there is any chance I might be able to repair it or should I just by a lock and swap it out?

Thanks, I was afraid of that.

It is amazing how Volvo uses five parts to do what two could do.

Please, is a door lock actuator the same as a door lock assembly?

One dealer is touting his door lock assembly as the "New Version". Is or was there an issue with them too?

Is $105 delivered about the right price?

They are all one peice. The lock actuator is inside the latch.
$105.00 is about right.

Hey, thanks again! I found one for $95 to my door.

There ia a sticker that says the drive belt was replaced at 75,000 miles. Will it be good to 150,000? I don't have $3,000 to gamble it won't.

Other than the tailgate and door panel issues, are there any more things that are sure to fail on the wife's Little Red Wagon?

You should be good till atleast 140,000. If the car sits alot inspect the belt every once in a while. If it starts cracking replace it.

The strut caps are known to break as well. But when they do it is not unsafe. It just clunks in the front when going over bumps.
They have some other minor and major issues as well. Browse the S70 section and get a heads up. But it you are at all technical we can help you through almost any problem you can have.
