Door is locked, but it opens anyway
Hi-
I have a 1999 V70 Wagon.
One day I noticed that even when the door is locked, I can open the passenger door from the outside. The lock is in the down position.
Any idea what's causing this and how to repair? Do I need a new part?
Thanks!

Likely Door Actuator, About $130 or so online. Use only Volvo part.

Look under "Front Door", "Lock Hardware".
Or Google for "Volvo 8628224".

1. Remove INNER Door Panel.
2. The Door Actuator is right there, very easy to replace, just watch the existing setup and replace it.
Do a search and you will find some DIY here or at volvospeed.com.

Yup,
Just to add a 'second opinion' the last post is accurate. The lock actuator assemblies are both pricy, and prone to many failures... I had the exact symptoms you describe when I replaced mine on the passenger door... and now need to replace the drivers door too!
