Default Drive Cycle

So I bought my V70 from a broker and had to get it Smogged today. The car didn't fail but it also didn't pass, the system is unready. Now its the brokers responsibility to get it passed but I am curious as to why this happens?

Thanks

Justin

Im not exactily sure what happened or what you are asking. What did the place say?I know the vovlo thas a trip cycle in the computer that it does its self to make sure there are no faults in the emissions system. It takes about 20 miles or so meeting all conditions for it to finish. But that shouldn't have anything to do with passing the emissions test.Did they plug a computer into the car?If they did it would have been into the OBDII plug that is under the arm rest in the center console. If not then i think it might of been a problem the the emissions testing center computer.Hope this helps a little.

Well,

When the test center hooked up the OBD II, 5 of the sensors came back as "Unready" all of them were emissions related such as Catalyst, O2 sensors, etc.

What are the conditions, maybe if I do the drive cycle myself it will pass?

Thanks

Justin

I will have to get a copy tomorrow from work. Its hard to tell with out and OBDII good scanner. It is also a pain in the butt to meet the conditions. But i will get a copy for you.I have never heard of that method before for emissions testing.

No problem. Let me know how you make out.The bad part is that you need to take it to the inspection after they get it through the drive cycle with out turning of or it might start all over again!!

Thats what I have been told!

I won't need to do this every time for emissions will I?

Thanks

You might but if you have to drive pretty far to get there it might do it by itself.Next time you might want to drive around for a little while without turning the car off.Sorry it is that way but I think it is the state you live in being to picky.
