Default Electrical problem lights and windows

I have a 1999 V70. Have owned the car for 2 years and have been very happy with it. Two recent problems that I was hoping someone had experience fixing. Two separate electrical events. The first (about two weeks ago) was the loss of headlights and turn signals while driving. Stopped, turned the car off, turned back on and the lights returned. That problem hasn't returned. The second happened last week when the power window motor stopped working, all windows are affected. When attempting to put the windows down the lights, dashboard and head lights flicker. Any ideas where to start? Are they related?
Thanks,
Tim

I would start with wiggling the ignition switch and see if it does it again or fixes it when it is happening.

Most of the time it is a bad electrical part of the ignition switch.

Tech
Thanks, will try the ignition if the lights blink again.

New information on the power window problem: the little puffs of smoke coming from the window up/down button signaled a problem in the door. Even I can recognize that smoke is a problem in the car.
Thanks,
Tim

For the windows you will need to replace the Master window switch.
