Default Electrical? V70 2.4T

Came out of a shop and car was dead(no codes, just a quiet click from the starter)? CAA mechanic came, checked battery, fuses, wiring, etc...... nothing? As a last resort he told me to jiggle the key as he tapped on the starter. The car started? Now, could it be the solenoid for starter or the "deactivator" at the key slot that caused the problem? If it's either of them, why didn't a code number come up on the dash????

Scan showed it to be a faulty deactivator ring at the key slot. Hope to have it replaced on Mon ? So it wasn't the tapping on the starter but the giggling of the key that reconnected the electronics. Still have the weekend to get through???
