Default Electronic Throttle Module

Have you all updated the software for the electric throttle module. My service tech said mine has not been updated per the recall. Should I get this done?

I've had TWO software updates and the light still comes on sometimes. Dealer can't seem to fit me in for replacement or doesn't have the part (in other words, Volvo is dragging their feet).

I've had the software update done. The light no longer comes on, but I did have the cruise not work once since and when I slow down the idle often drops really low, then goes back up. I've also had it not start on the first try a few times. Are these all symptoms and should I get it back in for a replacement of the actual module?

Welcome to the forum.

If you haven't had the updated software installed get it done and get it done now. It is just one of those things that should be done ASAP.

I have had mine updated. I also had the actual ETM replaced before I had the software update. I would look into having the actual ETM replaced if they will do it. Should do it for free since they are under a 10 year 200,000 mile warranty now. If not your going to be shelling out $900-$1200 for it. The software update should be free as well, if not probably $50-$150 for it. But yeah get that software update done ASAP.

I had my update done and haven't had a problem with it since. Before I had the update done the car was running terrible unfortunately this was my first experience with a volvo car and I was ready to take it back to the used car dealer. The dealership told me not to drive the car and the closest dealership in my area is an hour and a half drive. To have it towed there would cost a fortune and volvo would not pay for that. I drove it down anyway and had the fix done the car has been fine since. I did have the clamp for the turbo intake hose break and this causes the car to have no power and will barely run but is a simple fix.
