Default exhaust mods?

I'm interested in doing some form of an exhaust mod to make my car's "rain squeal" go away, and to beef up the sound of the car! I want that throatier purr coming out the tailpipe, soo, with that said, can anyone give me any suggestions?

I've heard of the JRL mod where you cut the resonator out and weld in a straight pipe, but I hear that that's not very loud or much of a difference at all. So, can anyone tell me what combination muffler system they have? I also hear alot of ppl with magnaflows and that's appealing bc it's cheaper than alot of the other stuff like EVOLVE and Eurosport tuning, or TME or other stuff. Anyways, any suggestions would be nice, and if you could put in part numbers or muffler inlet/outlet sizes, that would be great! Thanks!

I hear you, local exhaust shop can do rear muffler for less than $200, this will add power and noise, unless you're hunting for 350+HP also probably all you'll need.

BTW
I built a WRX 94 model wagon that with a 2.4L stroker and a TD05 made 200KW ATW and over 800NM of torque using a factory top mount intercooler and a bits and pieces exhaust (was so broke I couldnt afford to do either until later)
Just goes to show you dont "need" brand names.

Ok well lets get started here with...

1. What model and year V70 are you?

2. What is your budget?

3. With number one above are your Turboed or Non-Turbo?

With these answers we can better assist you, but here is a in general.

NON-TURBOED: If your not turboed I suggest running a 2.25" to 2.5" mandrel bent and or crush bent catback system to a Flowmaster muffler. Non-turbo vehicles need some back pressure and the Flowmaster muffler will achieve this as it is baffled. Any other baffled performance muffler will also work if this isn't in your price range. A local shop that can bend pipe should be able to make this for you for around $350 or so.

TURBOED: If your turboed then I suggest a 3" mandrel bent downpipe to a 2.5" to 3" mandrel bent catback system with Hi-Flow CAT and a free flowing straight through design muffler such as a Magnaflow or BORLA. turbos want a free flowing exhaust system so a full 3" would benefit you more. A local shop that can mandrel bend can make this system for you for around I would say $400-$1,000. Depending on materials used.
