Default First Posting - V70 Died !

Good Morning - An owner of many many Volvos over the years the technology is starting to beat me!

Volvo V70 2.5t 2005

Bought 3 days ago secondhand - 122,000km

Did I put the wrong fuel in it ?

87 octaine regular gas - should it have 89 ?

Driving along wonderful - topped it up with gas travelled 400km and then "Reduced Engine Performance" and the warning triangle displayed. The car essentially stopped.

I switched it off swore and restarted it and all seemed fine - Then it did it again 20km later.

I've looked at draining the fuel but cant seem to get a syphon tube into the tank.

Any input gratfully received - And How do I reset the messages? - The trip meter, Ignition position one then two doesn't appear to work.

Unless you got bad fuel putting in 87 instead of premium should not cause your problems, especially after 400km.
You will need to get the codes read to see what is setting them.

Sounds like you need to have it scanned for fault codes and go from there.

Read the owner's manual (online if you don't have it); pretty sure they recommend 89 octane or better but it should run fine (but with slightly less performance) on regular.

I've travelled a further 200km and it seems to run sweet

How can I get the messages reset ond the warning triangle extinguished?

Is this something I can do myself?

Maybe not. On older cars you can disconnect the neg battery cable for 30+ minutes and when you hook it back up, all codes are lost.
