Default Hit a truck tire carcass

A semi in front of me had a tire explode and a steel belted piece went under the car and severely cracked the plastic piece behind the front bumper that covered the nose bottom and radiator bottom. I had to pull over and cut the middle away because it was scraping the ground and flapping.

Am wondering if that can be DIY replaced. Reasonably handy, have done basic repairs (tailgate struts, busted seatback locks, brakes). Part source besides my retail priced dealer?

If you picked up the pieces, you would be surprised at what you can do with clear silicone chalk from the hardware store. You tape the pieces in place, on the outside of the bumper, then smear some silicone on a paper towel about the size you need to patch the crack together, and slap in place on the backside of the bumper, let it sit for 24 hours and you can go through a car wash with it, don't be cheap with the thickness of silicone.

Not sure I fully understand the part broken, but could you take some fiberglass matting and and fiberglass that to the back side as bondoman suggested but using resin instead of silicon? These kits are readily available at most car parts stores.

The various and sundry pieces are long gone. Was curious what that piece might be called and where purchased. Had never considered taping/caulking it back together. D'oh!

They usually call it an air guide.

Default Air guide repair update

I couldn't find the air guide on-line until after I bought it at my dealer for $80. I neglected to take any pics, but if you have a set of car ramps it's a simple replacement- 2 tabs that fit in metal slots on the car at the top front, a series of tabs that sit in right behind the bottom edge of the front bumper, and one screw on each side to hold it in place. The whole thing took 30 minutes start to finish.
