Volvo V70 Super capacity, super looks, super performance... this wagon turns heads and can still get the job done.

How will a 2002 Volvo V70 with 127,000 km (78,000 miles) hold up?

Default How will a 2002 Volvo V70 with 127,000 km (78,000 miles) hold up?

There's a 2002 V70 with 127,000 km / 78,000 miles on it, which I would like to buy.

How much longer will it last? And are there any known major problems after this many miles? (transmission, etc.)

Also, how much is it worth? The dealer is asking for 11,000 CAD. (10,000 USD)

Thanks!

Default 2002 v70

In short cars are generally cheaper in the USA than Australia.
I recently bought a 2000 model V70T5, with 126,000K's on it. I had all the major fixes done, new brake booster, new auto tranny and new flybywire throttle and just had new front rotors and pads.

It had the built in phone and sunroof and was advertised as "immaculate",
his idea of immaculate and my idea of immaculate two different things but that said, nothing a couple of days detailing didn't fix. Also had tyres in really good shape, and an ipod connection.

I paid $14,000 AUD for it.

given $10K USD is about $12K AUD i'm thinking unless its a T5 its probably a bit too expensive.

Also, if its not the T5 it wont go very hard........

78k miles is just barely broken in. If you take care of it, it will last as long as you want it to. 10 grand doesn't seem too bad, I mean, depending on the shape of the car and the service records. Make sure all the proper maintenance has been done.

In February of 2009, I purchased a 2002 V70 basic model for $7995 USD with 100,871 mi. from the Volvo Dealer in N.H. Not sure what that translates too in Km. This car had one owner and, showed a service record that in anyone's eyes would be immaculate. I have driven it for about 6 months now and I have begun to see that when I put the car into drive, it hesitates a moment, then sort of bucks into gear. I am not sure what this is, have heard people have transmission problems with these cars. Other than that, this car is amazing.

We don't really know since we have no Idea what the vehicles history is. Most Volvos out there, with the exception of an S80 IMO will last you FOREVER, IF it's serviced correctly and the service intervals have been followed like Volvo outlines in their service guides. There are 850's out there with 500k on the clock and 240's with 800k and are still driving like new. These are Volvos, they are super reliable AND will last forever IF taken care of.

If the car has had it's oil changes done at 5k you could see sludge issues, but chances are you should be ok. Transmission issues normally come up with the S80's. Most others have been spared with the GM transmissions. Normally, Volvos have issues with either electonic sensors and/or relays, BUT so does every other vehicle out there. I think your best bet is to have the vehicle inspected independently to assure you are getting a good vehicle. Just remember you are buying a USED vehicle. Something might brake as it is used BUT I would rather buy a used Volvo over most cars out there. They are super reliable and solidly made.

Thanks!
I wholesale cars on the side as a hobby, and I can tell you average book on one of those is between $7,000-$9,000 wholesale. Retail average is around $10k for a clean wagon! See if they take $8,500.. (my figures are USD).

Oh my god, that car is like a virgin, its not even broken in yet. Take it and take good care of it and you're gonna be good for a while.

Its even better if the car is 5speed manual but even automatics aren't bad.
