Default Need Help with Mom's V70!

Hi Guys, My Mom's '98 V70 GLT is having problems and I was hoping you all could point me in the right direction to get it fixed. When I first looked at the car it would not start right away. After a few tries, it finally started up and I smelled a "Bad Gas" odor coming from the exhaust. Seeing as she last got fuel out of town, I thought she might have gotten some bad gas and I drained the tank and replaced the fuel filter. It started right up afterward and drove fine for a couple of miles untill it started losing power and then just stalled. After letting the car sit for a minuite or two, it will start up and run fine for a little while, and then it starts to lose power and stalls again. I'm at a loss as to what to check next and any advice would really help us out! Thanks, Tim

To me it sounds like the fuel pump relay is bad.

It is under the black cover at the fuse box under the hood. You have to remove the black cover 4 t-25 screws. Then it should be the red relay.

Thanks Tech, I replaced it yesterday and also cleaned the throttle body with some cleaner the dealer gave to me. Seems to have fixed the problem. The Service tech at Volvo said that those relays are notorious for going bad and they have them in stock going way back in model years! The big test will be the 400 mile trip I need to take in it tommorow to get back home from my Mom's place. Thanks again for all the help, Tim
