hi folks, looking for a bit of help here, bought a lovely big v70 the other day, fantastic car all round, slight problem is I got two keys with only one remote fob, after locking with fob when you try and open with key it triggers the alarm,it goes off when you insert key in ignition and turn to position 2-is there any way of opening car without tripping alarm???ie a certain way you turn and hold key to deactivate alarm-its a 2000,2.4 litre model

any help appreciated

Um, not with volvo but have had something similar. Try manually locking doors (no fob) and opening with same key that is triggering alarm, then other key do same thing. Guessing that alarm won't trigger (alarm not set). Then try duplicating your problem with EACH key, by using fob to lock and then try each key to unlock and then start car. Had this happen before on diff make/model and one of the keys was a valet that would always trigger alarm.

Some of these Euro cars have a program process that you can do. Call the stealer and see what they say. The service manager should tell you over the phone what is going on. If your local one will not do it, call one from another state.

I had a friend that had a BMW with a key that needed to be programmed. I called them and they wanted me to bring the car to the shop so they could program it to the car. I told them that I was out of town and they told me how to do it over the phone. The tried to tell me quickly hoping I wouldn't understand but I figured it out. Not sure why they want that control. Maybe to try to talk me into some other service.
