Hello,
Just bought a 98 V70 XC AWD out of Chicago and will
be driving it in Dallas Texas.
I am new to Volvo and hope you can share any helpful
tips on them. Any quirks or special precautions I should know about. Whats the best type of fuel, and oil do most of y'all use.
I will go back and scan recent posts.
Thanks

Most people use high octane gas and synthetic 10W30 oil. Personally I use 87 octane gas a synthetic blend 10W30 oil. I'm not real familiar with the XC, but I think it has the low pressure turbo which give you 198 HP same as the V70 GLT that I have, but yours has AWD. My son has a 98 V70 R which also has AWD and he loves it.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you get useful information and join in some of our converstions.

I would have it checked by a local mechanic before driving that distance. Better to spend a little in Chicago than to be stranded somewhere between with Larry, Darrel & Darrel towing you through god knows where.

If it is a turbo car. When you get to dallas, disconnect the battery and then stand on the brakes for 1-2 minutes. Leave the battery disconnected for another 15 min, then re-attach. This should kill all the power out of the car and reset your ecu. It will make the car learn the 91 octane much more quickly (and safely) than the 92/93 it is currently used to.
