P1618, P0721 and P0722 Codes
I purchased a 2001 volvo v70 xc cross country 2 weeks ago from an auction in North Carolina. I brought to the mechanic once I took possesion of the vehicle and he stated that because it was at 100k he suggested new timing belt, there was a rear cam seal leak, booster performance had the CEL on and some other fixes (when hooked up to the VADIS volvo software only 2 codes came up, one for the booster performance which my scan tool picked up on and the other for the side view mirror)...
Wife called today and said CEL light came on w/ message saying transmission needs service... She said when you started to accelerate the cars seemed to skip and buck, but once it got going it stopped. I hooked up to the scanner and got codes
P1618, fault in lead between aw 50-52 and monitronic 4.3 (MIL Requested)
P0721, Output shaft speed sensorcircuit range performance
P0722 Output shaft speed sensor circuit no signal
As I learned that the vehicle was beinbg sold "as is" after the bidding was completed, I'm told that there is no recourse against the auction site although this sale took place less than 2 weeks ago and have less than 300 miles since the purchase.
My fear is that I'm in need of a new transmission, however, am would like to get some input from someone more knowledgable than me. I could bring it back to the shop that performed the timing belt work etc..... but as they hooked up to the system less than one week ago and found no indication of the tranny codes I'm at a loss.
Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
