Is this part of my SRS airbag system?
Hello - we recently grounded the front of our 1998 Volvo V70 XC AWD in a ditch, and broke a fog lamp and one of the supports for the plastic tray that protects the bottom of the radiator an oil cooler. Having been able to rivet a new galvanised steel hanger to the tray, I have been able to fit it back in position with nor sign that it was ever damaged, however, in addition to the wire connector for the fog lamp hanging down behind the broken lamp, there is another sensor/switch that I cannot find a home for: it looks like it should be mounted in a small hole about 5/8 inch across, has three rigid plastic pins sticking-out from it, surrounding another pin that looks like it could be depressed. There is another of these sensors/switches in the driver's side scoop, that slides over the towing eye on that side, below the bumper. The scoop that covers the towing eye on the passenger side of the car has no mount for the switch/sensor on that side, but there is a hole on the passenger's side of the plastic tray I have repaired, which looks like the sensor/switch should fit it, but which is out of reach of it. I don't know what these sensor, switches are, but think they are probably part of the SRS airbag system. Is that correct? Can anyone tell me where the passenger side switch/sensor plugs in?
Many thanks.
Rupert.

Thank-you, but I still don't know where to connect the right hand side sensor, as it is 7-8" short of the hole where it looks like it should be mounted. Do you have pictures of where the sensors are mounted?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hello rspi - sorry about the delayed reply: yes, the part in the picture you sent is the same as the part I described. What would be great is to have a picture of where the right hand one goes on a V70. The hole in the rhs of the main air duct, below the bumper, looks like the place, but my rhs sensor doesn't reach it. Maybe the sensor has been disconnected for some time, and I didn't know, which could explain the constant 'check engine' light in our car, despite repeated efforts to work out why it always comes on!
Thanks!
Thanks!
What codes are you getting? That sensor will NOT set off that light.
Also, there is a chance that someone has routed the wires in the wrong direction. See if there is some other way to route the wires to the hole.
