Default PS Hose & "Start Preventing" Message

Good morning, All. I have a '04 V70 2.5t and am in need of replacing a power steering reservoir tank and hose (the one from the tank to the pump) due to a leak. After pricing for the products on several internet sites, my question is why does the hose cost so much, $70 - $80, and can I get away with using non OEM hose without any problems? If the OEM equipment is the best way to go back with why does it go bad so soon then?
Also, I have a bad alarm module and lately when I leave the key in the ignition with the engine off in the ACC position and when I go to start it I'd get a "Start Preventing" message. I would have to take the key out and insert back in for it to clear the message and start or even sometimes I would have to lock and unlock with the remote for it to clear and start. Is there some way to solve this without having to service the alarm system.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for this very helpful site.

I would go with the OEM hose if you reallt need to change it. Did you try replacing the clamps only yet?

You can replace the siren your self or it will not be fixed and keep doing that.

Thanks for the quick response, Tech. I haven't try to replace just the clamp because I think my leak is in the reservoir tank. I can see some fluid on the lip of the middle of the tank and it could run down to the hose. Could it possible that the cap is bad? Since I'm getting a new tank I want to go ahead and get the hose in one order.

It could be leaking from the cap. But usually the clamps aren't pinched tight enough. Usually replacing the clamps fixes it. I have only had to replace a few hoses.
