I replaced the rear liftgate cylinders in my 2007 with Stabilus brand parts and heartily recommend them to anyone undertaking this job.
My originals -20 MY old- were leaking their tacky puss and couldn't hold the tailgate up in our recent cold weather. I knew this was coming since last Winter's cold weather.
Stabilus' quality was mentioned by many people on other boards.
The packaging read "Made in Germany" and the parts themselves read "Made in Romania".

Over a year ago I replaced the single hood cylinder with one randomly delivered to an auto parts store.
I wish I had known about Stabilus then.

The job is straightforward enough and I recommend having a set of plastic interior trim tools.
