Question red rear door light stays on

V70: After 10 years the red light on one rear door has decided to stay on when car is parked. tried locking and unlocking the doors with the key fob but no joy.

is there a switch which is stuck open?

Could I just take the bulb out? We never use the rear doors except for parcels?

Bingo! Mounted right on the door jamb near the hinges; each door has its own switch.

On the V70 the switch is part of the latch assembly.

On other cars I have been able to spray the area with electrical cleaner or wd-40 and get it to work....it usually last about a year on my ford ranger then i do it again.......

Default Thank you - what a great group of people you are

On my V70 (1998) there is no switch by the hinge supports, and after looking at the latch assembly, and finding a price from my friendly local volvo dealer (£43.40 plus VAT -and it's not in stock) I decided to just take the bulb out

So all is now sorted. But I need to work out how to post a proper thank you

The champagne is on ice for you when you come to Budleigh Salterton

Done the same on different brands. Normally it cleans up junk on the switch, though I have only had to do it once on each vehicle. Did this a few days on a G6, works fine now.
