I am getting ready to replace the rear rotors on my 2001 V70 (changed pads, but old rotors are warped). Is there anything I should be aware of when doing this? Also, while on this topic, I really hate working on my car w/o a guide, and since there isn't a paper guide for this car, is it worth it to buy that CD Rom that I see on ebay.

Don't know if you have ever done brake rotors or not, so my tips assume you haven't.

1. Hang the caliper from a coat hanger from the springs so you don't put stress on the brake lines.
2. Use brake cleaner to clean EVERYTHING, including the new rotors inside and out. They have a coating to prevent corrosion in shipping that should be remover prior to
3. You'll have to push back the pistons since the new rotor will be slightly thicker than the old one.

It's mentioned in the instructions that howardc64 linked to, as well as in the Haynes manual I just bought, but it says when putting the caliper bracket on, to use new screws. Why is that? Is it really necessary, or just some sort of preventive measure to avoid the screws getting oxidized and maybe seized in there? If needed, are they just garden-variety fasteners I can find at an auto parts store, or do i need to source from a dealer?

I'll be replacing my front rotors (not the rear as is the subject of this thread, but same idea applies) soon and ordered Brembo rotors and Akenbono ceramic pads from FCP Groton, so I thought I was ready to tear into it until I saw the blurb in the Haynes manual about the new screws.

What do y'all think, or what have you done? Just re-use what's there? Get new ones?
