Default Rod knock

Does this sound like a low rod knock? How could this have happened? I was always on top of my oil. I've had the car almost a year and this sound only appeared about 3 months ago. Sound is most audible at the end of the video.

Buy a mechanic's stethoscope to better isolate the source of the noise or take it to a mechanic for them to do the same thing.

Overheated it? Sounds like a knock. Check engine light on?

I fixed a van the other day that had what sounded like a knock, it was a bad water pump. Take the serpentine belt off to see if the sound changes.

Check engine light is NOT on. Never overheated the car. I took it to place place in San Francisco called Volvo Centrum. They said they would listen to it with a stethoscope to determine where the sound is coming from. Costed me 120 bucks. When I got back they were giving me new engine quotes. I would love to believe its just a water pump but I replaced that a few months ago and I don't appear to be leaking any coolant. It's just peculiar that the car only has 116,000 miles on it and something this serious is already happening.

I didn't say it was the water pump, I said that you should remove the serpentine belt and see if the sound presist.
