RE: roof rail question
I made that enquiry at a local dealer just today. They told me it takes them about an hour to install them. The factory rails are rather expensive, so if you are going to spend that kind of money you might as well spring for the hour of shop time, and save yourself the hassle. It's not something you want to screw up on!

No way, it's easy as heck to put them on if you get the ones for your model. The side rails are called Euro Rails and the crossbars are called crossbars. They are sold separately. I bought them both on the internet. The Euro Rails I got used and the crossbars were brand new. Everything cost me a total of around $250 and I put them on myself in about a half an hour. You just take the old molding off and replace it with the new rails and molding that you must get when you buy the rails. I'm not a mechanic, and I did this with no problem. I think they changed in 01 so make sure you get ones for your year. I don't remember the years that are the same, but I am pretty sure I was okay with 98-00 for a 98 V70.

RE: roof rail question
I bought my Side Rails (Euro Rails) used and the guy gave me everthing off the other car. So I had no cutting to do. I got them for less than new from a dealer, but not half price like you normally expect when buying used. It took me about 3 or 4 weeks to find them used.
