I have a 1998 S70 GLT with @ 100,000 miles on it. When I hit small potholes in the road or road repair I notice a rattle or a clunk sound from the front suspension. Any ideas of what it might be and how I might repair it myself?

Could be almost anything in the front suspension but most prevalent failure point on these cars is the upper spring mount. Recommend the HD ones from IPD; at a min use OEM. Need to R&R the strut to replace it. Will need spring compressor; have you ever replaced macphersion struts before?

You may as well ck out the rest of the suspension and replace what else needs to be while in there...

 

I have replaced several sway bar end mounts... they are double ended and don't cost much. The ones I have replaced had one end really loose and are noisy when a bump is hit.
