I have to order new rear shock mounts, because that thumping I hear in the back is from the broken shock mounts!

I see there are mounts for cars that have self leveling suspension. How do I determine if mine has that feature?

Try calling a dealership and get them to decode your vin # . They will be able to tell you your suspension option.

I also have been perusing the part images and it appears, at least by the images I see that the self leveling shock mounts have 3 bolt mounting instead of 2 like mine has.

I've been driving the car thinking all along that the spring seats were the source of the noise.
The broken mounts are also the likely source of the bouncing and oscillation I have been experiencing, from the rear because the shocks are effectively disconnected.....D'oh!

Some FWD 98 V70s came with Nivomats (I had one)
The bottom line on your VIN plate on the left inner fender is the CHASSIS CODE, give that to your dealer

...and consider new rear shocks, you will be amazed at the difference!!
Standard rear shocks are pretty cheap and the labor is the same as they need to come out anyway for new mounts
