Default Strut Tower Brace movement; is it supposed to?

On the '01, is it supposed to be able to twist forward and back a bit? It's solidas far as movement goes, but if you grab it, it does twist about 15 degrees or so in each direction, towards the firewall and the frint of the car. Is this normal or do I need the new brace bushings/brackets? I want to know before I get the new poly engine mount.

It will have some movement to it.
If you really want to make it sturdy check out link.

Agree with TECH on this one. You can also buy that part from QBM's website.

It is normal for it to have that movement because it is really an engine mount, not a strut bar. You can make it into a solid bar for $2.28, directions here: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/cha...?p=65965#65965

I didn't realize that until I started doing some research online. I jus tassumed it was a strut bar.

Those directions are great. Thanks for the link! I can't seem to find any negative impact from anybody converting it. I emailed IPD about these:

That would be a happy medium I think for me, but I don't understand why they wouldn't work on a '01 since it looks exactly the same in their pic as it does on mine, but they say 03 to 06.

That must be a mistake. In the directions it says they fit 1999-2006 S80s.

Well, I emailed them to see what the story is. I'll post a reply once I hear from them.
