Default Tire questions

Anyone try Michelin pilot exalto A/S? VERY highly rated on the tirerack site. And on sizing, I see thay list and opt. 215/55/16 on the door sticker, as opposed to the 205s on it now. What about 225/50/16? Height is VERY close to whats on it now, anyone try this size? I searched, but very few tire hits came up. Thanks

I have 215/55/16 on my v70, 225/55/16 are to wide, i think they will scrape on the front at full turn lock...
I some times get scraping with the 215's...

good luck

I think you would be making a mistake going to a lower profile tire like a 225/50 vs. a 215/55. Going from a 205/55 to a 215/55 is pretty common switch that a lot of people make.

Its not really lower profile.........205/55 is 24.8in high, 215/55 is 25.3, 225/50 is 24.9...........205 is 8.4 wide on a 6.5 rim, the 225 is 9.1 on a 7, by the tire specs. I could see a 215 rubbing, as its quite a bit taller, but the 225 is almost the exact same height, just wishing someone had tried it.

Can't comment on the different tire sections - not into that - but I did replace the OEM MXV4s with the Pilot Exaltos (same size) on my '03 2.4T - significant improvement in traction (especially wet) and steering response.

I have 195's 15s on mine for the winter and they have been great! quiet and great in snow and rain. I put 215s on a special edition 17" rims for the summer using Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position and I think that once they are done, I'll go back to Michelins.
