Default Is it transmission?

I have a 1998 Volvo v70 XC awd with 134,000 miles. The transmission appeared to be going out. I could drive it for a few miles after it cooled off, but once it heats up again it won't move at all. I took it to a transmission place, they said the transmission was fine and referred me to a local Volvo mechanic. He then diagnosed it as the ABS module and replaced it at the tune of $600! The car drove for a week and same thing happened. I took it back to him and he said it was the transmission. The reason I am doubting this is because one transmission place said it was not the tranny, and it still can drive a little-until it heats up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

That is a common sign of the transmission being bad.

Hello, Did you at least ascertain the level or condition of the transmission fluid? Mine was VERY dark brown at about 95,000. Those fools at Volvo say it's not to be changed-nonsence. Kira

Does not make sense to check trans fluid if transmission does not leak, I'd suspect valvebody is bad or some solenoids in valvebody.
