Default Transmission Question

I am a new owner of a used 2001 V70 XC AWD. It is my wifs car and the only volvo I have ever driven. What I am noticing is that when you stop at a red light and sit for a few seconds then go to accelerate it seems like the tranny goes into neutral and then into drive when you accelerate. Is this normal for this car? I will check the fluid tomorrow. Thanks for any input.

Is the car still under warranty? If so take it to the dealer they are having trouble with the transmissions on these cars. When you let of the gas slowing down. The transmission does go into neutral while slowing down to save fuel. The dealers are downloading software into the car to remove the neutral control function from the transmission. That should be your problem.

THanks for the info. The car has just over 48000 miles so it is still under warranty. THats interesting that the computer would manage the transmission that way. I will call my dealer to see what he can do for me.
