Transmission? slow start from zero
Hello folks!
I have been driving my Volvo V70 for almost 100k. It has 160k on it now.
Had the trani fluid changed at 70k.
Ready for it again but I don't want to invest if it is something else and major.
The last few days, the engine has had to rev higher to initiate forward motion from a dead stop, like at a red light for instance, I have to give it more gas pedal than usual to get going.
I never and have never been a jack rabbit.
The rest of the gears seem to shift fine.
Gas milage seems normal so this would eliminate a clogged air filter.
Does this sound like the transmission or could there be another cause?
Would a faulty neutral safety switch cause this?
Thanks so much for your thoughts!

I'm having the exact same issue as of yesterday. The engine has to rev higher from a stop to get the car going, but shifting well once i'm rolling. Did you ever find out what the problem was?
Thank you!
Adamo
Sounds like it's in limp mode which starts at a higher gear to prevent further damage. Get the car scanned to see if there are any stored codes.
You didn't mention the year - some models have a winter mode button near the shifter that starts the car in a higher gear as Dingus1 noted. Do you see the upshift light or a W indicated on the dash to suggest you are in W mode?
