Lightbulb Uncommanded Flashing Parking Lights 10 minutes after locking

My parking lights start flashing about 10 minutes after I lock my 2001 V70. I get the standard flash when locking/arming the car using the fob, and the small red dash alarm light flashes normally. But 10 minutes or so later my parking lights start flashing. They stop on their own after a period of time or if I unlock and lock again. Another (maybe related) issue is the red alarm light on the dash repeatedly flashes at a much faster rate than normal when I unlock the car and open the door.

Any ideas to prevent my colleagues from telling me about my flashing lights?

Seems like your alarm is being triggered, it's how it is on Volvos including my 01 V70, a siren other than your horn for the first minute, then your hazard lights will flash for 10 minutes after the siren, but unfortunately, if your siren is dead like mine you won't hear the audible alarm you will just see your hazards flashing, but something is definitely triggering your alarm.

Default Nmad stupid alarm design

Hello normiebates2, The batteries in your alarm unit are near dead. Do a search and find the posts on the subject. You can remove, open and replace the batteries if the circuit board isn't destroyed by battery ooze. I'm looking at the same job. Kira

Thank you for the advice. I'll check my car to see what I can find.

I did find a page with good info on the repair:
http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...p?f=11&t=17479

Another for parts:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0
I believe it is the Siren, but will verify.

Thank you again.
