V-70 t-5 struts, shocks, anti-sway bar
I have a 1998 v-70, t-5 with sports suspension (dynamic chassis). I am ready to replace the shocks, struts, and anti-sway bars. I am interested in using Bilstein HD struts and shocks and IPD heavy duty (25mm) anti-sway bars. Does anyone have experience with this combination or another heavy duty combination? I am interested in knowing how much the ride might deteriorate and how much the handling/cornering will improve. I also have a "clunking" sound coming from the right front - it is the spring seats...I understand that this is a common problem and a $400 repair at the dealer. Oh well... Ray Hummell, San Diego, CA
You can check and see if it is the spring seat very easy.Get a 13/16 Wrench and try to turn the nut for the strut. If it turns easy it is bad.It should feel rubbery and not turn.
I had the same clunking sound. Do the spring hats yourself - took me 1 hour 40 mins fo rth first one and 1 hour for the second. You will need a jack, two jack stands and a set of good spring compressors, all of whihc willcost you less than $400.

Hello I am new to the Forum. Is the spring seat the same as the spring hat, are they synonymous? Or is the spring hat the strut mount? Thanks for your help.
