V70 2.4T Starting Issue
I wanted to post some intermittent starting issues I faced with my wifes 2001 V70 2.4 T. After several months of intermittent starting problems the problem was solved by replacing the starter. The vehicle would power up, meaning the dash board lights came on as well as running lights, but the starter would not engage. After allowing the vehicle to sit overnight it would typically startagain and continue to do so for some time. After the vehicle would not start after 3 days I had it towed to the Volvo Dealer. The dealer claimed the battery has bad and replaced it at the tune of $250.00. A few weeks later the problem surfaced again. This time I towed the vehicle to an independent shop, where I know the owner and was a much closer tow. Here we decided to replace the relays on the ignition system. Ran fine for 2 weeks and went on the fritz again. In the morning it started again and made an appointment. The last piece of the puzzle was the starter and I am glad to say its been 4 weeks and appears to be solved. The reason for the posting is I have spoke with others with the same vehicle and many others have run into this problem & I hope this will help out targeting a mysterious problem.Boyd
