Default 2001 V70 Intermittent Starting Issue

A couple of weeks ago, I went to start my V70 and all I got was the clicking noise. I also noticed that something odd must have happened with the power since I received "check ABS" message and the clock had to be reset. I assumed the starter was going and replaced it. The car started fine for several days until today. I had the same problem occur. I tried several times and was finally able to start the car.

I have a fairly new battery and the terminals appear clean. Any helpful hints out there?

Default Load test it

Hello, "fairly new"; after the questionable circumstances you described I'd have the battery load tested before doing anything else. Kira

The clicking noise when trying to start indicates your battery is in a low state of charge; the clock resetting would be another clue toward the same conclusion.

I would suspect the low battery was caused by charging issue (alternator) rather than the starter. Like George said, ck the battery and assuming it's low, ck out the charging system...
