V70 brake pedal transmission lock switch

Hello. I have a 1998 Volvo V70 X/C AWD turbo 2.4ltr. I've recently been diagnosing an issue re. the transmission lock on our car, and, having checked the microswitch at the base of the transmission selector lever, think the issue is with the brake pedal-engaged switch under the dash.
I know where the switch is, but I need advice about how to remove it. I have removed the crash pad under the dash, exposing the knee bolster and letting me see the pedal stems and the switch but I can't get two hands onto the switch so that I can remove it. I'm 6' tall and of a reasonable build, but it seems like you need to be a midget and a contortionist to get two hands on the switch. Does anyone have any tips about how to do this if you are +/- normal size? Does the switch just pull out or are there clips to release it? I want avoid breaking the switch in getting it out, and to be able to try cleaning it, before buying a new one.
Secondly, where is the reversing light switch on the V70? I thought I would find it when I removed the center console, but it doesn't appear to be in that part of the car.
Any help very much appreciated!
Thank-you.
